After the War

This piece was completed in 2017, as a commentary on the effects of war, not only the devastation it brings to the people who fight the wars, but also to the innocent bystanders who are unfortunately caught in the crossfire, particularly children.

Based on a small image found online,these French orphans are drawn in charcoal, larger than life. The books and toys on the shelf below are all from the WW1, representing the lost childhood of the orphans. The postcards could be all that remains of the presence of family.
